working hard with in-deci-sion
where are you?
crawled in to find you cold, indifferent
oh baby's blue - blue
holding tight to washed-out dreams
squeeze the stuffing from the seams
no one hears - no one sees
the tears - my tears
you could have let me go - before i had a chance to find the pain
- to grow you left for me - you left me for - a dream,
a change of scene, a home - no fears
fighting hard with in-deci-sion you're gone now
no chance at re-con-silly-a-tion - baby's blue - blue
the hour-glass is true to time
the course is finished before the last grain of sand
- sand is through - through
wonder where I went wrong without you
you could've been more strong, no doubt - showing clear,
showing through
i could have been more tender, more sym-pathetic
more like my Lord - more app-olo-getic
but we're through - through
- baby's blue - blue - baby's blue

The Stop
startled awake again by the squealing hiss of brakes - diesel exhaust
morning routine resumes without a five minute snooze - button broken
small containers of warmth abandoned behind to cool - next passenger
waiting... acting preoccupied... looking... for... nothing - want ads
move through the crowd, frosted breaths suspended in the air - tobacco fog
the herd slowly gathering steps toward the ascent - scraping, straining
a closet packed full of every season of the year - heated, pungent
feeling weight - pressure
hearing sounds - muffled
coughs, wheeze, sigh - the din of voices
spectacled eyes peering above rustling newspapers - squinting, gleaming
the roller coaster ride begins - with a lurching... growling... tug
slowly falling...
back...
asleep

It Could Have Been a Miracle
AirBus stalls in the cold morning sky breeze
Captain announces an emergency
"Brace yourselves, prepare to land...
...on water."
Young man leaves family he loves behind
For overseas wars raging all the time
"Pace youselves, test the wind...
...prepare to fire."
Do you know why?
From the bottom to the top, Beginning to the End.
What you know for sure Might have never been
In seeing yourself reflect
Things you've made it through
God's still in control...
It could have been a miracle.
